Oh my, what a trip! I wonder if you could add a peace sign to this time travel machine? Could just hear Rod singing “Oh Maggie I wish I never saw your face”. You made a first class fool of me….Oddman, great job. Good wishes to Mum.

The cigarette machine photo brings back memories. I bought packs of cigarettes for 50 cents at the bowling alley from a machine. Now I pay around $5 a pack.

Well you certainly did hit our memory banks today and a lot of us are overdrawn.
Was life simpler back then? Seems like it was. Maybe somewhat naïve as well, but definitely simpler. I think Oddman is going through a period of deep contemplation about life. Dec 5 was “Getting Old”. Dec 6 is “When We Were Young”.

    – The A Team….a good show for it’s time. I do miss George Peppard….”I love it when a plan comes together” and I use that phrase often.
    – “Punch Me’s” Now the question is….did those breed aggression or relieve aggression? Do they have a Trump model?
    – That lonely stool, probably from a shoe store, actually brings back a lot of memories. We always bought shoes at this one store and there was a lady there who seems like she was there for centuries. As a kid I remember her being one of the nicest people I ever met. She made you feel special when you came in the store and always picked ‘just the right shoes’ for you.
    – I remember those rubber change holders. They held other things as well….but we won’t go into that.
    – Bean bag ashtrays. Remember them well, they were in every room of the house.
    – The Wall Phone. Imagine that, a device that didn’t go with you. A device that when you picked it up, you took your chances as to who was on the other end. A device that….if someone called you and you weren’t home…..deal with it ! These days you can’t get away from people!
    – The Mod Squad….good show…the counterculture cops.
    – Yeah I remember those cig machines as well. I gave up smoking a few years ago. First thing I did was clean the house….every inch….every item.
    – The ‘record store’…..those were the days…..spending hours going through plastic covered music to find tunes that you can one day say “I remember that song, I had the album”. Although vinyl they say is coming back for the aficionados.
    – So many more memories….David Cassidy, Mr Dressup, the ant farm, polio (my cousin had that), the Pacer (the fishbowl car and on a hot day it was like being in an oven), Evil, Elton John (young version) etc etc etc…..good times long ago.
    – Two final comments:
    — I loved Janis. It’s not a word I use often, even in expression for effect, but in this case I mean it……I loved Janis Joplin. She was real and they don’t make them like that anymore. Long ago I planned on going to a concert she had but I was told I had to work at a stupid little job I had after school. I thought…”another time”. That another time never came and I regret it to this day. The job was not worth the loss.
    — Cindy Lauper kissed me on the cheek at a concert. She was on stage with Cher but she came up into the audience and laid one on my cheek. I think it was the long hair and leather jacket lol.

And after all that, I now feel like and look like the CryptKeeper.

Ivan Boomski? Check your incoming Oddman

    Have a good one y’all

Deacon: saw Janis at HIC arena in Honolulu in ’71, while in the Navy. “I need a man to love” she cried. Was pretty stoned, but I knew she Was lonely, and thought about going AWOL and spoiling her rotten. Didn’t, don’t regret it, but it was a pure moment in time.
Had ’66 VW van bed in back, did 6 weeks summer of ’72 and 5 weeks ’73, just to see the great national parks and travel the country.
Doible Bubble was fine gum. Don’t chew it in class, tho- or off to the principals office to let his paddle visit my buns. Need more of that today.
Didn’t have a Pacer. Had a ’74 Gremlin, a sweet machine. Mrs Scarecrow drove it for 17 years. Kinda miss it.
Oddman, thanks for the time trip.

I remember people in high school saying I reminded them of Janis Joplin. Maybe the red hair & hippie clothes….

I may be a youngster, but I know what half of these are. 🙂 (I believe I have an old soul or hung out with too many people who were older than me (always gotten along with people older than me)..odd…) Anyways on to the good stuff!!

    Things I grew up with:

Glowing stars- my sisters had these on our walls in our room. It was pretty cool seeing all these glowing green stars expect when you wake up in the middle of night and see something glowing green in your room…lol

Toys in Cereal: Oh do I remember that! My mom would get mad at my siblings and I for putting our arms in the cereal just to get the toy. Or we would dump the cereal out in bowl again just for the toy..she would get so mad…LOL

Microscope: I remember using these in school!

Tales from the Crypt: Remember watching this as kid, and all of these spooky stories.

Cored phone: The cord that would start at 5 ft but ended being able to stretch around the house 5 times. lol

    Things I know:

Rod Stewart looks a bit different there, but never the less looking good!

The record store (well I would hunt for Cds of artist I like ): There is a record store that is still around called Rhino Records interesting place, after visiting the store go up the street there is a ice cream parlor with good ice cream. ^_-

    Have a good one,
